Tasks and functions of the State office for hydraulic engineering:

• Expert involvement in official procedures and specialized consultancy services for protective hydraulic engineering, revitalization of water resources, exploitation of water power and river control projects and measures
• Cooperation in the fulfilment of the functions of the Water management Planning Organization in official procedures
• Fulfilment of the functions of the federal hydraulic engineering service, including the conduct of development initiatives
• Project management, design and supervision of works for protective hydraulic engineering projects, intiatives for the revitalization of water resources, hazard zone plans and concepts for the development of water resources
• Supervision of waters
• Flood management service
• Fulfilment of agricultural hydraulic engineering functions: consolidation of unstable slopes, irrigation and drainage
• Administration of public water resources
  

Lustenau River Control Office: 

• Implementation of river control measures and water management

• Installation and maintenance of hydrographic measuring stations and seamarks
• Storage of protective equipment for oil pollution and flooding
