The State of Vorarlberg on the Internet

Energy is the nervous system of our affluent society.

The first Energy Concept Vorarlberg was drawn up in 1988. A lot of things have changed since then, liberalisation of the electricity and gas markets and new environmental policy being just some examples. This is why a new concept was drawn up in the course of an almost three-year process to provide energy policy guidelines up to 2010. All of the relevant interest groups have participated in this process. 

The concept concentrates on measures which are within Vorarlberg's sphere of influence and which can thus be implemented here. It includes an energy policy action program which bundles the measures in packages for the areas

• households/small consumers
• public sector/energy suppliers
• industry/large-scale consumers
• transport.
   

Obviously, a concept on its own will not achieve much. It can only have an effect if it is important to all of us that its targets and measures are implemented. And if we all make a contribution in our own personal area.
