Article 55
Involvement of the State Parliament in matters of European integration
(1) The State Government must inform the State Parliament without delay regarding all projects within the framework of European integration which have been communicated to the State by the Federation and which affect the legislative power of the State. The State Government must inform the State Parliament of the deadline imposed by the Federation for giving an opinion.
(2) The State Parliament may adopt an opinion on a project within the framework of European integration which has been submitted in accordance with paragraph 1.
(3) The State Government is bound by an opinion of the State Parliament which has been submitted in time. It may deviate therefrom only for compelling State and integration policy reasons. These reasons must be communicated to the State Parliament without delay.
(4) Without prejudice to the competence of the State Parliament to adopt its own opinions on individual cases, the State Parliament may authorise a committee to adopt opinions in accordance with paragraph 2.
