• Head of specialist service
• Avalanche Warning Service contact for organisational and financial affairs
• Drawing up certificates for temporary avalanche protection
• Drawing up daily avalanche status report, alternating with Mr. Anwander
• Advising avalanche commissions, district administrative bodies and relevant regional government members
• Organising and running basic and advanced training courses for avalanche commissions
• Logging the avalanche status, statistical evaluation of snow and avalanche-specific data, publicity work, reporting
• Taking part in conferences and exchanging information with nearby Avalanche Warning Services
• Land patrols and surveys
• Organising measurement network
• Supervising observers
