The State of Vorarlberg on the Internet

The State Archives of Vorarlberg are in charge of approximately 12,000 m of written material (charters, manuscripts and files).

The oldest document is a papal charter form the Mehrerau Monastery dated 1139.

Records also include large parts of the provincial estate’s archives, official papers and documents pertaining to regional and federal administration, local municipalities, parishes and former monasteries as well as personal papers and deposits, a music collection and other special collections (coats of arms, seals, maps and plans, posters etc.). Micro-films from parish registers are also frequently used.
