Achievements in the fire brigade have been rewarded with the Fire Brigade Medal of the State of Vorarlberg since 1953.
The State Government of Vorarlberg is responsible for the awards.
The medal is awarded on three levels (since 2000):

Description and wear
The Bronze Medal is awarded in recognition of 25 years of meritorious service with the Vorarlberg fire brigade. It is 32 mm in diameter and shows the State coat of arms on the front with the inscription "Land Vorarlberg" and a picture of the patron saint of fire brigades, St. Florian. Along the raised edge of the medal it bears the inscription "For 25 years of meritorious service in the fire brigade."
The Fire Brigade Medal in recognition of 40 years of meritorious service to the Vorarlberg fire brigade differs from the bronze in that the medal is silver- plated and the number "25" is substituted by "40".
The Fire Brigade Medal in recognition of 50 years of meritorious service to the Vorarlberg fire brigade differs from the bronze in that the medal is gold-plated and the number "25" is substituted by "50".
The medal is worn on a 40-mm triangular, orange-coloured band on the left side of the breast.
