The State of Vorarlberg on the Internet

A senior manager working part-time in a social facility or a qualified social worker taking an apprenticeship in a business: that is the idea behind "Building Bridges" – an improvement in interconnectedness between the areas of business, the social sector and administration.
The Vorarlberg further education programme "Building Bridges" was initiated by the Office for Future-Related Issues in 2002; it is now implemented by Kairos – impact research & development. Executives from business, the social sector and administration spend one week getting to know another working environment. Up to now, around 50 people have been bold enough to take part in the programme. The aims of "Building Bridges" are an improvement in the interaction of the fields of business, the social sector and administration as well as the promotion of social capital in the state. The project has developed into a successful export: the federal states of Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland and Styria have already adopted this training programme; Carinthia began the programme too, at the beginning of 2008.
