Further education and training opportunities from various state departments are bundled together in the framework of the Vorarlberg Academy. The Vorarlberg Academy plays an important role in supporting civic involvement and in increasing the quality of voluntary work through continuous training.
Civic involvement makes a valuable and indispensable contribution to our society. Whether it is the taking up of an honorary position, voluntary commitments or helping out within the neighbourhood – the activities, which are carried out, are of immeasurable social value. This fact demands recognition and encouragement. Therefore, the Office for Future-Related Issues offers, in cooperation with other departments within the office of the Vorarlberg state government, training for people who have committed themselves in such a manner. The Vorarlberg Academy brings together the courses, which are on offer from the various government departments in a "Programme for Civic Engagement". The Vorarlberg Academy’s first programme began in autumn 2007; the course curriculum in now already in its third edition. The programme is being continually reviewed and expanded.
The Vorarlberg Academy aims to communicate basic qualifications which are important for each and every person who wishes to actively engage in civic activities. In order to make the courses on offer attractive for specific target groups, the Vorarlberg Academy is split into various divisions. At the moment, the divisions are: Civic Involvement, Youth and Family, Sport and – recently added – Immigration & Integration.
The specific courses offered by the Vorarlberg Academy range from introductory and trial courses about networking events up to complete training programmes which are completed with a certificate.
