The following projects are in progress or have already been successfully realised within the framework of e-government:
- State of Vorarlberg website
In mid-2002 the websites of the State of Vorarlberg (www.vorarlberg.at) and of the Vorarlberg State Parliament (www.vorarlberg.at/landtag) were presented to the public in a completely new, uniform design. The new State website was very well received and was named as one of the best websites by a specialised magazine. The Content Management System on which the new website is based and the document administration system used in the Vorarlberg State administration are based on the same platform (from the Fabasoft company in Linz) and will thus allow an integrative support of the services to the citizen in the future. The content and services at www.vorarlberg.at are constantly being extended. In 2003 the range of services was almost doubled. At the end of 2003 just over 10,000 pages were provided.
- Barrier-free access to www.vorarlberg.at:
Since December 2002 the Vorarlberg website has been extended by a so-called WAI website which allows barrier-free access to all pages of vorarlberg.at and of the parliament.
- Web forms:
This is about providing forms on the Internet which can be directly completed on the screen and then transmitted by electronic means. The first Internet forms were realized in the course of 2002 (e.g. company registration, solar energy promotion), another 15 Internet forms were added in 2003 (e.g. requests and suggestions, personalized registration plates, promotion of the publication of scientific studies). Forms for businesses and associations, family and social affairs and the cultural sector will soon be available on the Internet.
- Electronic signature:
With the help of the citizen card or even a mobile phone, citizens will be able to use a legally secure electronic signature to verify their identification in online communication with the authorities, for example to sign Internet forms electronically, view their own files or receive official correspondence via the Internet.
- Online access to files in current proceedings:
Within the framework of a pilot project, an online service is to be realized with which an external subscriber (citizen/company) can send a letter directly into the document administration system of the authorities via a web portal. The sender is allocated a personalized area at the portal where he/she can call up proceedings-related information (processing status of current proceedings). The electronic transmission of official letters to the citizen via an electronic dispatch service will also be developed within the framework of this project.
- Further projects with e-government functionality:
There is a range of further projects in the State administration at present in which systems with e-government functionality are being realized. The largest projects are in the field of business and investment law (GEWANIS), in the social security sector (ISSO2) and in the promotion of residential construction (VWF).
