Natural catastrophes include damage to and destruction of farms, buildings, transport systems, water supply systems and energy supply systems caused by floods, avalanches, mudslides, landslides, snow pressure, earthquakes, hurricanes and rock falls.
Some of these can cause major damage to property. Not all damages are insurable. Rectifying the damage can often be a serious problem for those affected. The injured parties are first advised as to how they can rectify the damage. Subsidies can also be paid towards the repairs. The victims are given advice and support in dealing with the formalities. The procedure for the payment of subsidies is handled by the Regional Agricultural Authority.
