The Regional Agricultural Authority is the supervisory authority over the regulated and unregulated agricultural cooperatives and arbitrates on disputes among members. 
It also monitors the road cooperatives and grants the necessary agricultural and forestry utilisation rights as required.
Under certain conditions (consolidation) the Regional Agricultural Authority issues notices for exemption from land transfer tax.
In the procedure for the rezoning of agricultural land, the Regional Agricultural Authority assesses compliance with the aims of the regional planning act in agricultural terms.
