The annual growth of timber amounts to 6.6 cubic meters per hectare. This means that twice as much wood is grown in Vorarlberg as is used. This gives us a high reserve of useable timber but over-aging is also a natural consequence. Almost one fifth of our trees are older than 140 years. Rejuvenation of the forest is thus very important.
